Make Your Future
Workshops for the Craft Council. 2017-19

This project was developed with the Craft Council for Make Your Future. June/July 2018

Working in conjunction with the Craft Council I developed a range of workshop with key stage 3 students to dissect the tools and technologies we handle each day. We explored what a tool was to each student, whether that be a student's cat, electricity or a hair tie and how it worked in relation to their body.

Following this I invited students to create their own 'makers mark' in pewter, learning the ancient technique of sand casting. After they designed and made their own mark/tool they could stamp them into their ceramic works of impressed 'tools'.

We also worked with other moulding and casting processes common in manufacturing. Such as alginate and plaster, to isolate how our body works in conjunction with the tools we operate each day.
